Norwich 100 Cycle Challenge Supports Local People Affected By Cancer

Norwich 100 Cycle Challenge Supports Local People Affected By Cancer

On Sunday 29th May 2022, over 490 cyclists took to the Norfolk roads to take part in the Norwich 100/60/30 cycle challenge.

The event, which was sponsored by financial advisers, Loveday & Partners, raised over £10,000 for Big C, which will help support people affected by cancer in Norfolk and beyond.

Thanks also go to the online cake company Sponge, who generously donated cakes to be sold at the event, raising extra funds.

Cyclists could choose between the 30, 60 and 100 mile routes, taking in the edge of the Broads, Horsey Mill and the coast, all the way to Blakeney, before retuning via Holt and Blickling Hall, finishing in front of Norwich Cathedral.

“What made the 100 miles extra challenging, was the 25mph north coast wind and the climb of just over 3.5K feet! People think that Norfolk is flat – it isn’t! To put it into perspective Ride London 100 this year was 3.6K feet. But once the early morning rain cleared, the sun shone and all was good! I’ve done this event a number of times, but never tire of our beautiful Norfolk scenery.”

Two men from Norfolk who found themselves with cancer and having to travel for treatment, vowed local people would have access to the best treatment and support … and in 1980 the Big C Appeal was formed.
