Welfare advice
We all know the impact cancer can have on our lives and those around us. Whether you have been diagnosed yourself, or you are looking after someone with cancer, our trained welfare advisors are here to talk you through your social and financial concerns when living with cancer.
What is welfare advice?
Big C funds advisors from your local Citizens Advice service, to provide a range of support, helping you sort the practicalities, so you can concentrate on getting better.
A Welfare Advisor will give practical advice and information on benefits, loans, housing, employment issues, travel expenses, childcare, blue badge applications, bus passes, help with form filling and much more.
What do I need?
When you see a Welfare Advisor, you will need to bring:
- Your National Insurance Number
- Details of your medical team
- Information and correspondance of your health conditions
- Contract of employment if you’re still working
- Copies of care plans
- Bank account details
- GP details and list of medication
- Date of recent overnight stays in hospital
If you can’t find all these documents, don’t worry, our advisors will still be able to see you.
