Our impact
Year on year we’re making progress across the organisation to offer more support to people affected by cancer across Norfolk and surrounding counties. Read more about Big C’s impact over the past year…
24,288 support sessions have been held
From January to December 2025, 24,288 support sessions were held with people affected by cancer. This can be the person diagnosed, their family, friends or carers.
We supported over 786 service users per month
Our support teams across all centres and hubs interacted with an average of 786 people affected by cancer each month.
3,431 welfare matters have been resolved
In 2025, Big C’s welfare advice service, which is run in conjunction with the Diss, Thetford and District branch of Citizen’s Advice, helped 1,034 service users with 3,431 issues which gained an income of £3.9 million on their behalf.
Our retail operations brought in £1.4million
£1.4million was raised through our 12 shops during 2025. So every time you shop with Big C, or drop a bag of unwanted clothes off to us, you’re helping make a huge difference.
£300k has been invested in research projects
Big C is currently supporting six ongoing grants with awards totalling £300k, four of which started in October 2024 and two of which started in the Autumn of 2025. In the Autumn of 2025 the Trustees received two applications for PhD cancer research funding and after a robust and independent review process they were delighted to make one PhD studentship awards of £50k with the remainder of the costs supported by the host institution, the University of East Anglia. This latest PhD studentship will be hosted in the School of Chemistry, Pharmacy and Pharmacology at UEA and will start in late 2026.
49,949 hours of volunteering
In 2025, 49,949 hours of volunteering were undertaken across the organisation, which meant we could keep our Support Centres, online hub, retail shops and events running efficiently.
