Gifts in Wills

Leaving a legacy to Big C is a precious gift for future generations. We value every gift we receive. Anything you can leave, large or small will make a big difference to our work. Our work is entirely funded by donations, fundraising and gifts in Wills left by kind members of our local community.

Why make a Will?

By making a Will, you decide who benefits from your money and possessions when you die.

Having your Will professionally written may also help manage Inheritance Tax liabilities. Gifts to charity are usually exempt from Inheritance Tax, although it is best to take advice from a professional accountant or financial advisor.

Planning, making or changing your Will need not be complicated, time consuming or expensive. Your Solicitor, or a local Will Writer, can advise on the steps required. If you do not have a Solicitor, the contact details of local legal advisors can be found via the Solicitors Regulation Authority or from the Citizens Advice Bureau.

Why donate to Big C?

As a local charity, the gifts we receive go directly towards helping local people affected by cancer. Your gift could help towards the running of our support centres, fund cancer research or medical equipment for hospitals, or enable our teams to get out into the community, helping people to understand the signs and symptoms for early diagnosis.

We value every gift we receive.

Anything you can leave, large or small, will make a huge difference to our work. Your legacy giving options include leaving a fixed amount of money or a percentage share of your assets making up your ‘estate’, once all your other payments and gifts have been made. Your Solicitor can talk you through these options in more detail. To make sure we receive your gift, there is specific wording you have to include in your Will which includes our registered charity number and contact details.

Other ways to leave a lasting memory

Give in memory

A give in memory page allows you to do something positive in the name of the person you have lost, by contributing to the work of Big C. And now it is easier than ever to start an in memory page to share with friends and family.

In person funeral collections

For those who are gathering in person, collection packs are available, which we can send to you or the funeral director. The pack includes a collection box for cash, as well as envelopes for anyone who would like to post a cheque donation. Simply contact us to order your pack on the button below or by calling 01603 619900.

A wonderful gift pledged by Joan & Dick

“Our legacy to Big C is our way of thanking the charity for the immeasurable care and support it provided for a dear friend throughout his illness, as well as for the family during this time. It’s impossible to describe just how important this support has meant to us all.

It is our hope that our legacy will enable Big C to continue in the future to offer people with cancer and their loved ones this vital service.”
