Palliative Care Programme

Our Palliative Care Programme can help support you right through the journey, from diagnosis to end of life, however long that road may be.

How does the programme work?

Our support team can work with you to ensure you receive the right support, whether that’s attending a support group, or having 1:1 sessions or counselling. The programme is tailored to the individual, so we’ll suggest ways we can support you that works for you.

What areas can you help with?

Our Palliative Care Programme can help you with financial advice, funeral planning, welfare advice, information on nutrition and healthy eating, and 1:1 emotional support.

How our palliative care programme can help

We can support you in a variety of ways including…

Initial 1:1 chat

A discussion on how we can best support you going forward.

Practical information

We’ll talk you through the practicalities of bereavement including ‘Tell us once’, closing bank accounts, funeral planning, estates and finance.

Support tools

We’ll offer techniques that can help you process your situation, including acceptance and moving on.

Counselling

We can offer 1:1, family or child counselling sessions if you need extra support.

1:1 support

We can offer 1:1 support if you’re not comfortable in a group session.

Group support

A Big C facilitator, experienced in grief and loss, will help you to understand the grieving process, offering a natural environment to express your loss. The group looks at areas such as planning ahead, loneliness, anniversaries, birthdays, resilience building and mindfulness.

“It’s so reassuring to know that others are going through the same thing as you. It’s made such a difference understanding what ‘palliative’ really means, and knowing the team are there for me, with whatever support is needed.”
