Our research partnerships

We have a number of research partnerships with organisations across Norwich Research Park, including the Quadram Institute, the University of East Anglia (UEA), and the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital (NNUH).

Laboratory tours are conducted at the Norwich Research Park, taking place at Bob Champion Research and Education Building, the University of East Anglia and at The Quadram Institute, where Big C has invested in ground-breaking cancer research projects over the past two decades.

Big C and Norwich Research Park

Big C is proud to be part of the innovative Norwich Research Park.

With our head office based in the Centrum Building on the park, we are ideally located to work alongside the research institutes that we fund.

These research projects have resulted in ground-breaking advances in bowel, prostate and blood cancers amongst others, thanks to our amazing local scientists.

Big C and the Quadram Institute

Opened in 2018, the Quadram Institute was supported by Big C who provided £400,000 in funding.

It has created a world-class facility to provide a step-change in food and health research and innovation to address major health conditions.

Big C and UEA

For many years Big C has worked alongside the University of East Anglia, funding research into cancer across many schools and departments. This includes the Schools of Chemistry, Pharmacy, Biology and Computing Sciences and at the Norwich Medical School.

Big C and NNUH

The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) is one of the largest cancer centres in the UK and the biggest provider of cancer care in the East of England, offering world-class treatments to more than 6,000 patients every year.

NNUH has their flagship state-of-the-art endoscopy unit located within the Quadram Institute, into which Big C has invested. It is one of the largest in the UK, undertaking on average 40,000 procedures per year.
