On World Cancer Day (4th February), MP for Norwich North, Chloe Smith, visited Big C’s Norwich Cancer Support and Information Centre, in the grounds of the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH).
Chloe, who has herself received treatment for cancer, met with members of the Support and Information Team in person and via video link, to hear about the wide range of practical and emotional support offered by Big C throughout Norfolk and Waveney and beyond.
The team shared news of current projects and new services including ‘Nourish & Nurture’, a wellness intervention programme for individuals living with cancer, aimed at educational lifestyle, behavioural change and psychological support. The ‘Nourish & Nurture’ programme focuses on well-rounded, evidence based, holistic care, including education on healthy eating, weight management and ‘mood and food’, plus health walks for mental and physical wellbeing, 1:1 psychological support, cancer support groups, wellbeing complementary therapies and food and nutrition myth busting sessions.
Big C has Support and Information Centres and Hubs in Norwich, King’s Lynn, Great Yarmouth, Thetford, Wells and online via the charity’s Virtual Support Centre.
