After filming BBC’s Winterwatch in Norfolk, Michaela, who is herself a cancer survivor, visited Big C’s new Support and Information Centre in Railway Road to find out about the services available to those affected by cancer locally.
Big C opened its original Cancer Support and Information Centre in King’s Lynn in 2013. The Centre recently relocated to new, larger premises to create a fully accessible, modern and welcoming facility, which is now open on an appointment basis.
A team of qualified nursing professionals and specialist support officers are on hand with a friendly listening ear. They can help with the many questions that arise during such a challenging time, via services such as ‘Ask the Nurse’. Free professional counselling and complementary therapies are available for emotional and wellbeing
support, along with practical help and welfare guidance in partnership with Citizens Advice.
Michaela was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014 and underwent a double mastectomy, followed by breast reconstruction.
Big C is marking World Cancer Day with the return of Big Cuppa, where individuals and businesses are holding coffee mornings and tea parties to raise funds for the charity. If you can help by holding a Big Cuppa, it’s not too late to join in.
To book a face to face Big C centre appointment, a virtual appointment, to enquire about joining our support groups, or to receive immediate telephone support please call 0800 092 7640.
