Welfare Advice

Helping you cope with the practical matters of life with cancer.

Big C Centres have trained advisors to talk through your social and financial concerns when living with cancer, even if it’s just how you apply for a bus pass.

Whether that’s benefit entitlement, sick pay from work, grants, or welfare rights. We can help ease these worries.

Our advisors can help you understand your rights and even help with the basics like filling out forms.
If you book an appointment with our Welfare Advisor, and can no longer attend, please call the Centre you booked with to inform them as soon as possible.

Common Questions
Some of the questions that our Welfare Advisors can help with include:
  • I’m going to have to give up work to care for my partner, am I entitled to any benefits?
  • What will I do when my sick pay runs out?
  • Can I get help with travel costs to and from the hospital?

Currently our advisers are at the Big C Centres in Norwich, King's Lynn and Great Yarmouth, as well as the Louise Hamilton Centre. We also provide a Welfare Advice Programme in Cromer Hospital. Please contact the Great Yarmouth Centre for more information.
