Big C Centre Open Day:
Staff at the Big C Cancer Support and Information Centre are inviting people to come and have a look around on a Saturday - a day we're not normally open.
We realize that sometimes people with a cancer diagnosis find it difficult to come into the Big C Centre, we hope that by opening informally on a Saturday, it may be a little easier.
We would also welcome members of the public (as well as Healthcare Professionals) who may be interested in seeing what the Big C Centre offers to those with cancer and those who support them, and may not feel able to visit the Centre during our usual opening times.
Drop in any time between 10.30 and 3.30.
About the Big C Centre
The Big C Cancer Support and Information Centre (also called the Big C Centre) is a warm and welcoming place for cancer patients, their carers, family and friends. It is a place to reflect, away from the hospital and all things clinical. We always offer refreshments. There is a pleasant garden where you can relax and unwind.
We are based at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital. We are funded by Big C, our local cancer charity and no charges are made for any of our services. Visitors do not have to be attending hospital. We are here for anyone affected by cancer in the Norfolk and Waveney area.
You can call in at any time. You don't need an appointment to speak with us, to sit and rest, to share concerns and problems or to access support, information and advice. Our
Library is well stocked with leaflets and books to browse or borrow. There are two computers for visitors to use and we have a broadband connection (so that you can access home email etc.) Scarves, hats and wig care products are available for sale. There is also a DVD of scarf tying techniques available.
Scarf tying workshops are held monthly and do not need an appointment.
The following services for patients and carers do need appointments. (Please let us know on if you are unable to attend an appointment you have made so that we can offer the appointment to someone else. See contact details below.)
All are welcome to call in between the times of 9.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday (closed Bank Holidays). We are open until 7pm on the first Wednesday of every month.
How to find us
We are near the hospital's Colney Centre. Disabled parking is available at the hospital. The nearest car park is ward car park K. Normal parking charges apply. Buses run regularly to the hospital from Costessey Park and Ride and the city centre.
