Special Day Gift Scheme
Support the Big C at your Celebrations
Would you like to turn your big day into a special occasion for more people than just you and your guests?
More and more people are choosing to support their favourite charity through wedding, anniversary or birthday gift donations. Big C can offer you a way of making your personal celebration into a special day for not only you and your family but also for cancer sufferers across Norfolk & Waveney too by helping to support the Big C’s ongoing work to provide better cancer treatment, facilities and care in the local area.
Instead of getting all those un-required or un-desired presents why not ask guests, family or friends to make a donation to the Big C instead – helping to fund world class cancer research in the heart of our local area, cancer treatment and equipment for the local hospitals and vital support and care for cancer sufferers and those close to them through their most difficult times.
How does it work?
There are two ways you can choose to support the charity through our Special Day Gift Scheme.
On the Day Donations
(We suggest this is more appropriate for birthday and anniversary parties)
If you are holding a birthday or anniversary party and wish your guests, family or friends to make donations on the day/evening then we can provide the following:
- Celebration envelopes for donations (this helps us to claim Gift Aid on their donations making their gift worth event more to the charity – see note below)
- Big C Literature to display
- Big C Balloons
- Big C Collection Tins
- Donation forms for your guests to fill in with their kind gift (this helps us to claim Gift Aid on their donations making their gift worth event more to the charity – see note below).
All you have to do is fill in this form and return to us to tell us about your day and request the above items.
Following the event we shall issue you with a special Commemorative Certificate for you to keep detailing how much you and your guests raised.
Longer Term Donations
(We suggest this is more appropriate for Wedding Gifts)
If you wish to allow your guests to make donations in the lead up to and following your Big Day then we can issue you with a Wedding/Birthday/Anniversary Gift Code for you to state on your invitations.
When guests wish to make a gift they can send the donation direct to the Big C, quoting this Gift Code. You don’t need to worry about it at all and after the big day is all over we can tell you how much you and your guests have raised for the charity. If at any time you wish to find out how much you have raised for the charity then just give us a call!
We can even provide you with a Donation Form for you to reproduce for inclusion with your invitations too if you wish, (this helps us to claim Gift Aid on their donations making their gift worth even more to the charity - see note below).
When all the donations have been made a special commemorative certificate shall be issued for you to keep detailing how much you and your guests were able to raise.
We recommend you start this scheme between 6 weeks and 3 months before the special day.

Gift Aid
Gift aid is a scheme that allows the Big C to claim 28% of donations made from the Inland Revenue – at no cost or hassle to you or your guests/friends. We include details of this on our donation forms and celebration evelopes which will make the amount you are able to raise even more!
'Getting married later in life we felt that we were in no need for presents – we certainly didn’t need another toaster – so we decided to ask guests to donate to the Big C. It gave our big day an extra special touch and we felt we had contributed to supporting people in the local community through our celebration.'
'My husband and I have been married for 40 years and to celebrate this year we asked friends and family to give a donation to the Big C instead of giving us presents. I had a cancer scare myself a few years ago, and as we have lost so many close friends to the disease, it was important to us to feel that we had helped to make a difference in some way. It also saved the family having to think of yet another anniversary present!'
