These grants are provided to support (a) fundamental research in to the causes of cancer and the mechanisms by which they arise and exert their effects (b) studies into epidemiological factors associated with cancer and potential prognostic indicators.
(Research should not directly involve animals)
Consideration will be given for financial support for:-
(a) Short Term/Pump Priming Projects:
This is the normal mode of research support. Projects are normally awarded for a period of one year. There are usually around 10 projects in progress at any one time with an average value of £35,000 each per annum. A report is requested at the end of the third quarter of the grant outlining the progress of the project.
(b) Research Project Grants:
These are normally awarded for a period of three years and are subject to a satisfactory progress report a full twelve months after the start date of the award with a subsequent report annually thereafter. There are usually around three projects in progress at any one time with an average of £35,000 each per annum.Those awarded grants are required to submit a formal Annual Report. The contribution of the Big C should be recognised in any profit related publications/presentations.
