Big C - Local Cancer Research and Care

Legacies

Writing a will gives you peace of mind. It enables you to retain control over what happens to your belongings once you pass away, and to direct your money where you want it to go. It is likely that the majority of your funds will go to loved ones – family members and friends – but have you considered making a donation to charity?

A large proportion of Big C’s income comes from legacies left in wills. Thanks to these important gifts the charity’s ability to help in the fight against cancer is significantly enhanced. A legacy in your will to Big C is a valuable way to make a real and lasting difference to the lives of local people touched by cancer.

It is also easy to do!

In order to leave a legacy to Big C you will need to arrange for it to be written into your will. This can take one of three forms:

  • Residuary Bequests - This means making a gift of the remainder of your estate once all other bequests, debts and inheritance taxes have been paid.
  • Pecuniary Bequests - This is any gift of money you wish to make where the actual amount to be donated is stipulated in your will.
  • Codicil - This is a document containing an alteration or addition to your existing will.

Whichever method you use it is vital to specify Big C, registered charity number 281730, otherwise your bequest may go elsewhere.

We realise that deciding what will happen to your estate is an important, and sometimes difficult, task. Should you wish to discuss any aspect of leaving a legacy to Big C please contact Jessica Bygrave on 01603 751696.
