What are Lavender Funds?
Lavender Funds are a distinctive way to honour a friend or loved one’s memory, at the same time bringing hope to others. It allows you to do something positive in the name of the person you have lost, by contributing to the work of Big C, funding local cancer research and care for the people of Norfolk & Waveney. People who have set up a Lavender Fund tell us that it has helped them channel their emotions and involve others in a positive way.

How is a Lavender Fund set up?
When we receive a gift in someone’s memory we can set up and administer a Lavender Fund. Each Fund is individual – named after your friend or loved one – and allows friends, family and colleagues to raise money to help Big C. For example, friends and relatives of John Smith might collect funds for the John Smith Lavender Fund.
How do I help a Lavender Fund grow?
You can contribute to a Lavender Fund in whichever way you choose. You can give single gifts or make regular gifts by Direct Debit, taking advantage of Gift Aid which will increase the value of your gift to us by one-third. Some people bake and sell cakes, some run marathons or host events – whilst others simply decide to make a donation on a significant date, like a birthday for instance. Anybody can donate or raise money for the Lavender Fund now and as far in the future as they wish. We make sure that all donors who choose to be kept informed know how much has been raised for the Fund.
What if I choose not to raise additional Funds?
We understand that these Funds, while bringing comfort to others in you situation, will not be everyone’s choice. If this is true for you, please rest assured that you need take no further action. The gift you have already made is very gratefully received and has already been put to good work.

Other ways to honour your loved one
Whether you would like to open a Lavender Fund or not, you may wish to participate in Big C's Walk of Thoughts. A sponsored walk held at Somerleyton on Sunday 29th June, the event is a chance for people to walk together to support and remember their loved ones who have been affected by cancer.
