When cancer threatens someone you love: Big C's scientists, nurses and the hospitals we equip will give them a fighting chance and hope for the future.
We were formed in 1980 by David Moar and Clive Bamford; two young Norwich men who were forced to travel to London for their cancer treatment. They were determined that people in Norfolk should have local access to the best treatment and care.
Today the dedication of David and Clive is shared by all those connected with Big C. In the thirty years since we were established, over £19 million has been raised, thanks to the magnificent support of our surrounding community. These funds, of approximately £1,000,000 per year of charitable spend, are ploughed into:
-
Cancer equipment in our hospitals and across rural areas (such as the mobile breast screening units taken out to market towns.
-
Support for those with cancer in the form of nurses, services, and our Centre.
-
Care for those affected by cancer - such as Big C's Bereavement Group.
-
World-class research carried out by Big C funded scientists.
-
Only in Norfolk & Waveney.
Our rainbow represents our four key objectives, mentioned above.
Advances have been significant and continuous. Thank you. Together we are making a HUGE 'Big Difference'.
