Improving biopsy procedures
Spring 2007
£150,000 to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn for a digital mammographic unit.
This grant will allow the purchase of a new digital mammography and stereotactic biopsy unit to speed up the process of obtaining biopsies of suspicious breast lesions. Currently the hospital has an analogue unit and this lengthens the procedure which can be distressing to the patient. Current recommendations from the NHS Breast screening programme state that all analogue units should be replaced by modern digital apparatus.
