Big C exists to fund research, treatment, equipment, care and support for people in Norfolk & Waveney affected by cancer. Awards are made by the Trustees acting on specialist advice. All applications will be evaluated in the light of peer review. The amount available for grants varies from year to year, but typically the total awarded annually is approximately £500,000. From 2009 the Trustees are offering student bursaries providing support for students studying within the Norfolk & Waveney area to a maximum of £175 per week for up to eight weeks.

Applications for equipment or research grants are reviewed twice yearly and must be submitted by one of the following deadline dates: 31st March and 30th September. They will be awarded if successful following the May and November Trustee Meetings. Late applications will not be considered but may be carried over to the next meeting.
Applications for student bursaries are reviewed twice yearly and must be submitted to the following deadline dates: 31st March and 30th September. Applications will be circulated to the members of Big C’s Grants Committee for comment. If the majority of Committee members are supportive of an application then it may be approved and the applicant notified within four weeks of the deadline.
