Garry and Sandra take to the skies

Last year saw the untimely death of Garry Mahn’s best mate, Peter Ryan.

Garry had known Peter since the mid 70s when they were both in the Army. Both Peter and Garry worked in nuclear medicine in the Army's military hospital in London. “Nuclear medicine is used to diagnose and monitor the spread of cancers.” Garry explains, “Ironically both of us have had tumours. My stomach and duodenum were removed seven years ago and I am now "all clear".

Peter was diagnosed with a bowel cancer of unknown origin a few years back. He underwent a number of courses of chemotherapy but, as is with these things, the inevitable happened last September 18.”

This August sees NHS husband and wife team, Garry and Sandra taking to the skies on the day of their 32nd Wedding Anniversary, only to jump out of the plane at some 13,000 foot and to freefall back to earth. “Not being that stupid we have elected to be strapped to someone who knows what they are doing.” Garry told us, “In memory of my mate Pete and to make the insanity of jumping out of a perfectly serviceable plane worthwhile I am fundraising for local cancer charity, Big C.

I hope that you can find it in your hearts to make a donation, however small, to this worthy cause.”Donations can be made via Garry’s Justgiving page www.justgiving.com/Garry2011
