Do you have the brains to help Big C?
Local cancer charity Big C is shouting out for teams to make October 20th the big pub quiz night of the year.
It needs teams of six to register for a tenner at Adnams pubs or pubs that serve Adnams beers throughout Norfolk and North Suffolk and enjoy a night battling their wits and knowledge to raise funds for cancer patients and their families.
The questions at each pub are all the same and set through Big C, including a table top general knowledge quiz. Prizes have been donated by Adnams and RadioNorwich999 and the Beach who are running a studio tour for the winning teams.
While mobile phones must be switched off during the quiz, teams are encouraged to submit their pictures before the start and reveal their scores during the interval via social media @bigctweets or facebook/BigC to ensure a competitive buzz outside of the bar.
Within the eight individual rounds of questions will be a special medical round with a few cancer related questions. The quiz marks the final event this autumn in the charity’s #cancerconversations campaign launched on drip mats through Adnams and designed to make cancer more of any everyday talking point.
All pubs entering will receive a special pub quiz pack comprising posters, balloons, pens, and questions and answer sheets and prizes and will be listed on the Big C and Radio Norwich and The Beach websites.
Big C has also been this quarter’s – July to October - beneficiary of Adnams Pennies campaign, so the charity hopes the quiz will remind customers shopping online or in Adnams Stores and hotels to round up their purchase totals to the nearest pound.
Dan Bell, Big C’s Event Manager, who devised the #cancerconversation campaign, said:” Let’s make this the biggest pub quiz night we can. It is only £10 per team to enter, but that tenner can do a lot to help raise awareness of cancer and support people and their families with the illness in Norfolk and north Suffolk. Adnams have been massively generous in their support to Big C and we are grateful to their marketing team and the Pennies campaign for recognising the need of the charity in its 35th year."
Just this month Adnams celebrates achieving half a million charitable donations via Pennies, the electronic charity box, made by its customers. Since it began in 2012,pennies has raised about £120,000through purchases of wine, beer, spirits and kitchenware across Adnams stores. The Pennies scheme provides customers with the option to round up their purchase to the nearest pound and donate the extra change to charity, based on the idea that the small change, when collected together, can make a big difference.
So far Adnams has donated to 14 regional charities. In August the scheme was extended to the online store, hoping to raise even more for the chosen charities.
