High Street Christmas cheer for Big C

High Street Christmas cheer for Big C

Kind-hearted shoppers across the region have helped Big C ring up its best ever year across its retail outlets. As Norfolk’s cancer charity reaches the close of its 35th anniversary year celebrations at the end of the month, it is filled with gratitude and wants to say a big thank you to all its supporters.

Through your donations of goods, as well as purchases, our local cancer charity has seen sales buck the downward trend and achieve an increase of about 3.5 per cent across all 10 stores in Norfolk and Waveney on previous year’s figures.

In addition, the Timberhill store enjoyed its best ever weeks’ trading in its 21-year history during early December, perhaps partially due to the revised pedestrian crossing now in use at the top of Westlegate, increasing footfall past the store, but more likely to the subtle improvements that have been implemented throughout the year.

Head of Retail Ashley Bunn said the year-end figures were amazing, given a difficult first two trading quarters of the year. “A slow start made us think this would be a difficult year, but it has really picked up. The tweaks we made through all stores have started to pay off, “he said.

“All our stores had a tidy up, making them easier to shop. We improved layouts, re-examined the product offering in each to ensure the items and the price points were right and introduced new signage to help direct people to product areas and it seems that our customers have liked it.
“The Bridal Boutique at Timberhill has had one of its best years. 2017 brides should be excited. The bridal floor is being completely rebranded and refurbished from top to toe ready for a Spring re-opening.

Big C has also recruited 80 new volunteers to support its retail outlets and ensure the customer is really being served.

Don’t forget if you have extra family members and visitors this Christmas and new Year, or if you want to present festive food in a different way, the Distribution Centre has 25 vintage mismatched place settings of a plate, teacup and saucers for £15 for 1 week hire. Or if you have too much of a Christmas party which results in odd china the Centre would love to hear from you on 01953 6093320.
