Another day, another cake...

It has been quite a year for the inspiration behind Big C, our Co-Founder David Moar MBE.

He and wife Carolyn joined more than 90 friends and supporters for the “35 years on” wine and cheese party held at Claxton Village Hall to recreate their first ever fund-raising event they held to benefit Big C.

Among the 80 guests, were 20 who were among the 60 guests at the original launch when £300 was raised. “This time we beat inflation and made £1500,” quipped a delighted David.

“Fortunately word got around and generous cheese and meat producers from within 50 miles of Claxton kindly contributed some very fine produce.”

Big thanks to: Stephen and Catherine Temple for Binham Blue, Copys Farm, Wighton; Norton Family Dairy St Swithen cheese from Frettenham, Norwich; Bungay’s Jonny Crickmore for Baron Bigod Brie; Ferndale Farming at Little Barningham for Norfolk Dapple Cheese and Fielding Cottage for Norfolk Mardler Goats cheese.

A big thank you also to Stoke Mill Restaurant, Stoke Holy Cross and Marsh Pig Charcuterie from Claxton for their support with very generous raffle prizes and also the organising committee for a great event.
And needless to say…there was another cake to cut…thanks to Eileen Dunston.

An anniversary needs cake and lots of it. Co-founder David Moar launched our 35th Anniversay Year in January by cutting the cake at our Anniversary launch.

…then his cake-cutting duties were needed again as the Norwich Centre’s 10
th  birthday party, cutting the cake alongside new Big C Chair - Carolyn Sexton.

On the anniversary of establishing the charity, David was then caught on camera recreating the charity’s first ever event -  a cheese and wine party in his village hall doing just the same!
