As Norfolk's Cancer Charity turns 35, tonight at 7.30pm Inside Out will take a look at how it all began back in 1980 with our Co-Founder, David Moar MBE.
The story retraces the steps of David in the late 70s and the journey to London for his chemotherapy treatment for nearly nine years; the difficulties of that journey, the incident that has deterred him from ever travelling on the London Underground for life and how the whole experience made him feel.
Determined that no one should have to travel so far under such circumstances he resolved that the people of Norfolk and Waveney would have access to the best treatment and support closer to home.
In 35 years not only has Big C raised around £25million, but has enabled funding of support and information centres across the county, surgical and diagnostic equipment so people with cancer can be treated right here on their doorstep in Norfolk, as well as world class research at the Norwich Research Park.
Inside Out East goes out on BBC 1, East, at 7.30pm tonight across the region. It will also be available to download on BBC iPlayer.
