A few weeks ago we visited the Norwich Medical Research Building, now named the Bob Champion Research & Education Building, to see how progress was going.
The building will aim to research new treatments for conditions affecting the ageing population, including cancer. Big C are proud to have part funded this project, investing £250,000 towards the building.
Building work is almost complete and the teams of scientists, researchers and students are now moving in. It will be officially opened early next year.
The Bob Champion Building will also house teaching spaces and netowrking rooms - so important for idea swapping and generation. But crucially, it will allow research conducted from within it to be done on real life patients, then translated into revolutionary trials and treatments. Professor Colin Cooper, one of the lead researchers, stated, "Within 2-3 years we hope to use these approcahes to improve lives by personalising cancer treatment."
