King's Lynn Big C Centre Update

Decorating for the new Big C Support and Information Centre is nearly complete, with only carpets left to fit and some final glossing to finish! Everyone’s hard work has certainly paid off, we have been so lucky with lots of local people volunteering and helping us paint and decorate, including banks, supermarkets, schools and local businesses. The time, support and enthusiasm that the local community has already shown Big C has been absolutely incredible.

In just two months time in late October we will be opening the doors of the Centre to those affected by cancer in our community, including their loved ones.

Once open we will be offering:

  • Relaxing space, in the comfortable & welcoming environment of the Centre.
  • Ask the nurse sessions, which enables patients or their families to speak directly to a specially trained nurse regarding concerns or to ask questions which only a medical professional can answer.
  • Cup of tea and a listening ear, a drop in service with no appointment necessary, come in and have a chat to our friendly centre staff & volunteers.
  • Cancer Information Library, packed with information and support materials.
  • Reflexology, a relaxing free complementary therapy to help soothe and pamper you.
  • Telephone welfare advice appointments by fully trained consultants, who can offer extensive advice on things such as benefit entitlements, disability badges and housing to name a few!
  • Computers, for Internet access and use.
  • Counselling, a  service for those affected by cancer(family & friends not just patients) who will benefit from these one to one sessions with a fully trained counsellor.

We have many ways in which the community can still get involved with the Big C Centre King’s Lynn, including volunteering positions that vary from retail assistants to complementary therapists, ‘meet and greeters’ to nutritionists!

Best of all is that the Centre will continue to grow and adapt to what the community here in King’s Lynn needs, and with your continued support it will go from strength to strength.

If you'd like to talk to me about getting involved - either volunteering, fundraising or sponsorship, or you'd like more information about support offered here, please do give me a call on 01553 818737.

See you soon,

Big C Centre Manager, King’s Lynn.

Our King's Lynn Shop - soon to house the Centre as well.
