A letter from one of our London Marathon runners

Hi Rachel

Many thanks for being kind enough to call me on Monday regarding the fundraising for the Big C following the London Marathon run.

You kindly asked me to send some pictures, so I have attached a couple.

One is of my wife Pattie handing over the matched funding cheque to Jill at the Big C centre on Monday.

The other is a pic taken before the start of the Marathon in Greenwich park with our Son Troy and his girlfriend Maxi.

As you can see I used a Big C T-Shirt (with the sleeves cut off) and painted my wife Pattie's name across my shirt and also the names our children and grandchildren. I wanted to carry them all round.

Was smashing but so emotional to hear so many people shouting out 'Keep going Pattie'.

It certainly kept me going to the finish. It was a really special and emotional day, I was in tears at the end.

We are so pleased that we have all managed to raise nearly £4000 for the Big C, thanks totally to the kindness and generosity of family, friends, colleagues and neighbours.

Many thanks Rachel, and keep up the great work.

Best Regards
Mark Garrod
